Sometimes I feel my life has all been had
With regret I dream of goals I never set
Years ago I thought I just delayed a few
Had I known I only fooled me

People say the years bring wisdom to our lives
Well those wise words kerf my soul like rusty knives
The truth is much more thorny than they taught me
Could I choose again I'd choose credulity

Well everybody's getting older every day
We turn to gray
and we wished we could turn away
or back the time
I lost my future much too fast
It's in the past

From birth we learn to be like grown-up folks
But at twentyfive we know that we've been hoaxed
Soon enough we proudly watch our progeny
And enjoy their open destiny

And if I ever wished to live some life again
Then I'd wish it longer than the Age of Man
Still I wouldn't let the time surprise me once
I have had my share of bygones

Well everybody's getting older every day
We turn to gray
and we wished we could turn away
or back the time
I lost my future much too fast
It's in the past
